Case Study: Illustration & Graphic Information Design
I have chosen to reflect on different aspects of illustration and graphic information design. With the use of one of my favorite designers that I included in my reviews, as for now I shall be discussing about what it is that inspired me to her work.
People have many ways of viewing things, especially when it comes to design. You have your own thoughts and comments. But that is the whole point in my opinion- of having something present in order to provide that sort of interactivity circulating between the viewer and what it is in front of them. I’m always intrigued by work that have a meaning behind them… in this case you’re not left wondering what the subject matter is; but you’re left with a narrative.

Celia Johnson is an 'Illustrator, graphic designer, new media designer, She’s an imaginative visual designer experienced in both traditional and digital media development, usability problem solving and information visualization'.
In various categories from graphics, editorial, tech to informational her outcomes have a clear and educational point, with icons on performing some form of activity or in general in some of her work she includes words that make the image as a whole become informational.

Stress effects on the human body | Rodale Press:
This work in particular very simply done, yet such vibrant colours used in order to show warning of dangerous problems. Little hints doesn’t have to be colour or even if it’s a single words interests me based on the how I perceive it.

Boys' Toys | Twist Magazine:
Completely the opposite as to the 1st image discussed, showing all hobbies, and general interests of men. With added humor in the background of an iconic female- resulting the idea of girlfriends/relationships, with the sunglasses looking down at her- causing some attraction there. The mobile phone and speech bubble of resembling conversations. In this case its interesting how symbols near enough speak the words.

Editorial:
I mentioned this design group in my review section, but I really like their iconic posters. This editorial piece was based around the clients and designer relationships for a .Net Magazine article. With all the different stages of a design industry- this represents a timeline of the levels of progress within the working atmosphere. Symbols and yet again iconic figures present information together. The handshake, brief cases and the gathering of people around the table informing the viewers of an everyday life event.

Jordan Mural:
This illustration is a combination of a little bit of type and imagery featuring 'Carmelo, Chris Paul, Dwayne Wade, and of course iconic moments from Michael Jordan’s explosive career on the court'. The black and white bold flat colours allow the hints of reds to stand out more from the picture. Almost forming a narrative of the game taking place- as you see the players in different positions and approaching with different facial expressions. The effect this gives is like a comic- without the speech bubbles... comparing this design to Celia Johnson's illustrations, its not educational- but it provides symbols which you have to look out for. The red vests representing the team colour, the basketball- the idea of a game. The viewers as left with their insight.
